Oman and India expand economic cooperation

The two countries have agreed to eliminate double taxation and prevent financial evasion, further strengthening their economic relationship.

India and Oman have signed an agreement on a tax protocol. The document was executed in Muscat by Nasser Khamis Al Jashmi, chairman of Oman’s Tax Authority, and Amit Narang, India’s ambassador to Oman. Al Jashmi stated that the protocol aims to enhance economic cooperation. Countries have agreed to abolish double taxation and combat financial evasion, further reinforcing their economic ties.

Oman is a strategic partner for India and is involved in regional organizations like the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the Arab League, and the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA). The two countries have historical, cultural, and diplomatic ties, with formal relations established in 1955 and a Strategic Partnership in 2008.
